Question : What is NiEXUS?
Answer : NiEXUS is an online English learning site for students in primary and secondary schools. All activities here are directly linked to the English Language skills and subsets presented in the primary and secondary school English Language syllabus. In keeping with the objectives of the National Education Blueprint (2006-2010) for the development of the compleat student, this site has been designed to encourage creativity, improve IT skills and further the language experience of students between 7-17. It isn’t meant to teach the syllabus, but to complement and augment what is taught in school.
Question : What can I find in the NiEXUS?
Answer : Fun and interactive forums for creative expression, games and tutorials that are meant to educate and entertain. Each segment is designed to stand-alone, and comes with tips on how to get started. The tutorials, designed around NST's articles, features, headlines and advertisements will help you test your language proficiency. The News Quiz will challenge your knowledge of current affairs. The language games and other activities will give you an opportunity to express yourself in English. In short, here you can better your language, IT and critical thinking skills at your own pace. Question : Who are the NiEXUS activities for?
Answer : This site is primarily for students. But it hosts resources for teachers too. A lot of the activities given cross media and be used in the English classroom along with the print copies of the New Straits Times to provide a wider perspective on language learning. Whether you are in NiEXUS to improve your language skills or just to have fun, remember there is no pressure. You don’t have to be good at the language to access NiEXUS. Attempt the exercises and games confidently. If you don’t know, the automatic feedback system will point you in the right direction. And by the time you are through, you would have added to your existing knowledge.
Question : Who is responsible for this site?
Answer : The NIE Unit of the New Straits Times. The Unit will also act as moderator and administer. The moderator has the right to remove offensive material posted.
Question : How do I gain access to the NiEXUS?
Answer :

If your school is currently under the School Sponsorship Programme (SSP) or is subscribing to the New Straits Times, all the students in the school will be eligible to have free access to the site for the duration of the sponsorship or subscription period.

For schools not under either, a minimum subscription fee of RM150.00 will be charged for the whole school year. All the students in the school may then have access to the site. Click HERE for the subscription form or HERE for download the form. Please print the form, fill it up and send it to us together with the payment. Once your subscription is processed, your school will be given an access code with which students can then register.

For parents who are interested in subscribing to NiEXUS for their children at home, a subscription fee of RM100 per year is applicable. Click HERE for the Home Subscription form. Question : After I subscribes, what happens?
Answer : For School:
Once the subscription application is received from your school and processed, a NiEXUS manual with instructions on how to register and a special school code, allocated to your school, will be sent to the teacher in charge. The teacher is required to guide students on how to register to get their passwords. The special school code is required for registration to be successful.

For parents:
Once the subcription application is recieved and processed, a NiEXUS manual with instruction on how to register and a special access code, allocated to your familly, will be sent to you. Using the access code, a maximum of 5 users can register. You and your childen will need to registerto get usernames and passwords.
